I originally did the ‘What’s my face worth?’ tag as part of #JuneBBC (here) and the total came to over €200. I decided then and there that I was going to do a ‘budget’ version of this at some stage to see what the difference was. I did a face of makeup that I would be happy to wear out on any given night and it even passed the Mammy Friday test! 😉
MUA palette: €5.15 (Superdrug)
Catrice Photo Finish foundation: €6.99 (Penneys)
W7 lipgloss: €1.49 (Cara Pharmacy)
Essence I ❤ Extreme Volme mascara: €3.49 (Penneys)
Rimmel primer: €8.85 (Boots)
MUA gel eyeliner: €3.85 (Superdrug)
Inglot blusher: €15
Total: €44.82
What a bargain! If I had one of my Natural Collection blushers with me the day I did this the look would have come to just over €30 as the Inglot palette was the only non-budget item I used. I loved this look and would easily wear it again and again! My only gripe with the budget products was with the MUA eyeliner as it took a bit of work to build the cover up – but I have been spoilt by my Ingot eyeliner when it comes to pigmentation and on the plus side it allowed me to get two perfect wings which almost never happens!
What do you think? Where do you save and where do you splurge on makeup?
Great post! Just goes to show you don’t have to spend 500 quid on your face. Are the results from high end cosmetics really 10 times better to justify 10 times the price?!
That’s exactly it! It’s good to know where you can save and then it’s easier to have the occasional splurge without breaking the bank. It’s also why I loved the 10 under €10 posts!!
I’d be really interested to see how much my face is worth – and I love the idea of doing a budget version! 🙂
It was really interesting to do one just reaching for whatever and then to follow up with the budget version. It helped to highlight where I could make savings if necessary!
Ooh, now that’s interesting – yes, if you’re happy with items from the budget face, it could really show up some of the expensive things! You’ve got my brain whirring now…
Glad to provide some inspiration!
What are you on about|? sure your face is priceless 🙂
Charmer! 😛
I love that mascara, it’s such a great budget buy!
There are some really good budget mascaras out there. I’m considering doing a post on it!
This was a great post 🙂 I can’t say enough good things about Catrice, and Rimmel very rarely disappoints; it really shows that a good product is a good product, regardless of the price or brand name… Well done 🙂 x
Thank you! Some of my favourite products are budget products. It’s about quality not price as far as I am concerned1
Budget face is such a good idea, might try this. I’m scared to do the more expensive one!
I think it’s good to do a few different versions of this – daily, budget, high end, night out etc There is so much scope!
That lipgloss looks lovely! I’ve always been scared to do this tag though….don’t think I could cope!
It’s a bit daunting but worth doing! I’ve seen other tags where people divide the cost of the product by estimated number of uses etc but that was a bit too much for me!
You’re right though, so many great budget options out there! I haven’t tried that essence mascara, but their liquid liner pen is great! Thanks for the ideas for my next trip to Boots!
You’re welcome! Thanks for the comment. 🙂
I love this post. On my own blog I tend to focus on the bargain buys because Chanel and Bare Minerals are out of reach for me and more than likely my readers! I love that primer myself; unbelievably good for a “budget” product.
I love finding value for money products! I won’t settle for bad quality but I always argue that higher price tag doesn’t equal higher quality. Thanks for the comment!
Totally agree with you!
I love this idea! Definitely going to try and see what I can do to get a bargain face post! Love all your picks:)
Thank you x
