As someone who lives in “the country” – that mysterious place outside Dublin – nights out in Dublin are a rarity. A friend of mine is moving abroad in 2 weeks and was having a party on Saturday night so another friend and I decided to treat ourselves with a night in the Crowne Plaza hotel in Blanchardstown.
I can’t sing the praises of the hotel enough. The staff were very courteous at all times, from check in to check out – including getting my friend hot water to make peppermint tea at 4am!
Our room was on the 8th floor. It was really spacious with a massive King size bed (there had been some confusion and we were *upgraded* from the twin room requested). I loved the massive desk/dresser although with two girls getting ready a bigger mirror would have been a godsend. The photos had to be taken before anything was unpacked cos I managed to cover every surface! I also have to say that the shower was AMAZING if you like high water pressure!
As someone who occasionally enjoys a trip to Blanchardstown to shop this hotel was ideally placed for that as well as for our trip to town! I was amazed that you couldn’t hear any noise in the hotel from the traffic outside as this was something I had taken for granted. The hotel has free parking and can be accessed straight off the N3.
I also have to recommend the breakfast as it would definitely set you up for the day. I ate (part of) this at 10:30am and didn’t eat again til that night! It is the idea breakfast for an avid shopper to ensure you don’t have to take a break too soon!
I’m going to be suggesting this as a break away for myself and some friends coming up to Christmas – perfect chance for a girly break and to get the shopping done! I booked this room through one of the many offers going and it only cost €81 for bed and breakfast for two people for the night! Taxis to/from town cost about €19 each which was still very reasonable and with all the restaurants in the area you wouldn’t even need to leave Blanchardstown if you didn’t want to!
