Una Brennan is from Northern Ireland and is recognised as one of the best facialists around. Super Facialist is her range of skincare products and they are exclusively available in Boots. I received some Super Facialist goodies to try at a recent PR event. I was really excited to get these as I had seen them in Boots a few times but managed to resist buying them. The Super Facialist range has three different types of products: rose for hydration, tea flower for deep cleansing and neroli for firming. I received the rose cleanser and facial oil.
The first product I received was the Miracle Makeover Facial Oil. What isn’t clear from the name of the facial oil is that it is a cleansing oil and not really designed for leaving on your skin. Una Brennan apparently is a massive advocate of the double cleanse method and this oil is designed as a pre-cleanse step. You just lash it onto your skin and massage it in, washing it off with a flannel or muslin cloth when you are done. It is brilliant for removing makeup. I’ve used it to remove eyeliner and mascara with no bother. The rose scent is quite strong but I love that smell so it was something I enjoyed. If you are not a fan of rose scents you’ll be out of luck with this one! The packaging for the oil is really great as it comes with a pump and is in a sturdy glass bottle. I suspect that when this oil is gone I will be reusing the bottle for my DHC cleansing oil as I am loving the control the pump gives me.
Super Facialist by Una Brennan’s Calming Creamy Cleanser is designed as the second step in the double cleanse but it can be used on it’s own. This is also quite strongly rose scented so again, if you don’t like rose scents you may find this off putting. Being honest, this thick creamy cleanser really didn’t impress me. It did the job, but didn’t wow me. I have used this on it’s own to cleanse and as part of a double cleanse routine. It isn’t good at removing eye makeup and to be honest stung my eyes for about 2 days after I used it. I wouldn’t be rushing out to buy it but it is a good price and there is nothing wrong with it. I have used this almost as a hot cloth cleanser and it has been quite nice for that but I have plenty of other products that fall into the same category.
Both products are available from Boots or the Super Facialist website. The Facial Oil is RRP £14.99/€17.99 and the Calming Creamy Cleanser is RRP £7.99/€9.99. Both are currently on special offer in Boots though so if you want to buy them at a bargain price get down there quickly for 30% off!
